If you're new to trade or want a taste of a different style we can start by arranging an Inn-site weekend where you'll join one of our key pub operators for a hands-on, behind-the-bar weekend visit. Try tackling typical tasks like checking the cellar, keeping the pub neat and tidy, dealing with customers and pulling pints.

Before you enter the pub you'll need to attend the 1 day Marston's Access Workshop which prepares you before you take on the pub. You'll get all the information you'll need on issues like what happens on changeover day, licensing, making money, health and safety laws, food hygiene, employing staff and lots, lots more. This is the first step of our "Stepping Stones" program which is designed to help you be a success in your business. There's a free cellar-management day as part of the deal. Use our Skills Bar for details of our regular workshops in everything from expertise in wine to marketing your business.

Your Business Development Manager's business review meetings are a chance to go over ideas and ask questions. Pubs covered by Base Lease packages are handed over in good condition, with all reasonable repairs carried out by us. You will be responsible for repairs once your business is up and running.

We'll be there all the way to make sure the Base Lease goes smoothly. If you're new to the trade, take full advantage of our skills program, with courses to help you learn the skills you'll need. And you'll be supported all the way by your BDM who is the link between you and us.
